Friends of Cantera, Inc. supports rural and urban community development in Nicaragua by working in solidarity with CANTERA, a Nicaraguan non-profit founded in 1988. CANTERA empowers communities as they seek solutions to social and environmental injustices: lack of access to basic services, unemployment, violence, climate change, gender inequality, and limited healthy, sustainable food sources.
Friends of Cantera's Mission Friends of Cantera supports the mission of CANTERA by promoting the integral development of all people through the methodology of Popular Education, by cultivating a Solidarity Network that encourages people to share their talents, time, and treasure, and by strengthening financial stability through fundraising, grant writing, and endowment funds.
